Timber

Madera Maya is a product of the Quintana Roo forest.

Wood production is the result of forest management and community efforts of the land cooperatives that belong to OCFP-Mayan Zone.

We saw the wood with alternative, eco-friendly technologies that prevent excessive damage to the forest and are sustainable.

With these technologies, we avoid the use of tractors or TreeFarmers and significantly reduce forest damage during the trunk extraction process. The wooden planks are produced directly from within the forest. These technologies reduce transport costs, generate employment , and allow a larger portion of the forest to regenerate.

Our anatomical and physicomechanical studies demonstrate the density, hardness, mechanical resistance and natural durability of the timber. Taking into account the variability of these properties, we recommend the following uses:

Plywood, general construction, furniture pieces, handicrafts, pencils, flooring, paper pulp, staves, tool handles, lathed products, ship construction, etc. Furthermore, the beauty of this wood makes it especially good for decorative use.
